The Ohio Arts Council’s Riffe Gallery presents All We Cannot Forget, an exhibition curated by Char Norman. This exhibition features contemporary works of art by twelve artists who live and work in Ohio.
“All We Cannot Forget brings into focus practices and ideas from the past which are forming a new paradigm in the world of art making.
Art can be the vehicle to facilitate a conversation around progress and regression—whether to remember or forget. What issues and ideas from the past can and should inform the future? The intent is to present ideas, issues, and even processes from the past which have never really ceased to exist but are lurking under the surface and beginning to bubble up again.
Twelve artists are represented in this exhibition: all with varied techniques, ideas, conceptual acuity, and viewpoints ranging from the universal to the highly personal. Many draw directly from their backgrounds to inform future work. Others identify with experiences and events in our present-day circumstances. All the artists represent memories and knowledge that should be retained.”
